In September 2024, we hosted our very first Chinese-speaking professionals networking event in Leeds. It began quietly, with just a few attendees and one simple goal: to create a space where Chinese people could connect with ease in a foreign environment.
From that modest start, the event quickly gained momentum. People started showing up—and then coming back. Month after month, new faces joined familiar ones. The atmosphere remained light, open, and genuine—most importantly, free from hidden agendas.
This initiative, founded and run by us (China Marketing Corp), has never been about selling. It’s about community. A place where people can share stories, career journeys, challenges, and opportunities without pressure or judgment. A space built not only through language, but through shared experiences and openness.
Over the past year, we’ve welcomed nearly 200 attendees from across the UK and beyond—from China and Malaysia to local British professionals eager to connect with Chinese culture. Our Chinese business community in Leeds continues to grow as more Mandarin-speaking professionals across the UK discover the network.
Through these connections, real friendships and collaborations have formed. To celebrate our one-year milestone, we produced a short film in appreciation of our generous venue partner, Santander Work Café Leeds—our event home since day one. The video was a true community effort, directed by Tengzi Ashton, a talented film director, and featuring members of our own networking group.
We’re proud of what this has become, not because of numbers or reach, but because of the spirit it carries: a space where people feel seen, heard, and connected.
